Red Congolese- AC Medical - Jan 2021
For popcorn I was pleasantly surprised with the size, trim, and moisture level of the buds. Found the semi-dense nugs to have a crisp exterior with a sticky interior. The visuals were really vibrant as bright lime greens provided the background for the wild and winding rich orange pistils. The smell was also another positive; as sweet pungent citrus aromas hit my nose. After having some time to take in the scents you could also pick up minor notes of fresh pine. All around an extremely rich and satisfying smell. Smoke was extremely smooth with thick delicious smoke providing sweet citrus flavors with fresh pine notes on exhale. Burned with a light grey ash and a respectable oil ring throughout. Effects were immediate and cerebral; as you’d hope for a notable Sativa strain. Found myself with a heady buzz with intermittent episodes of euphoria and energy that had me always looking for the next thing to do. Nice clear and focused head high that also had me pleasantly relaxed an hour in; with most of the effects hitting above the shoulders. Perfect wake and bake smoke or for when you needed to socialize or hang out with friends; if that was possible right now. All and all, for a popcorn version of this strain it was stellar; and in my opinion a fantastic option if you are after this cut of Red Congo, with a budget in mind. I find from experience with popcorn it can be difficult to assess the original quality of the strain. Either due to mild quality issues; sub-par trim, excess shake or buds that have been relatively dried out. Not the case in this instance. There is a reason this is such a sought-after strain from AC Medical. I'll be looking to test out the strain in it's larger form in the future for that reason.
