Purple Silver Surfer / Budmail / September 2020

**Quality:** 8/10 **Value:** 7.5/10
**Appeal:** Insanely frosted nugs, all about the same size. As the name suggests, this one had really nice hues of purple all around with bright orange pistils. The flower itself was very very light, almost broke apart just from handling it but wasn't dry at all. I'd never had flower with this texture before
**Smell:** This one smelled straight up like blueberry muffins. Such a delight, it felt like a Sunday morning making blueberry pancakes, super comforting. I left it in a jar for a few weeks and now it smells more like dough/yeast, I'm digging it.
**Smoke:** I smoke out of a bong so I can't really say too much about the quality of the burn, but my bowls burn salt and pepperish. The smoke itself isn't too harsh and goes down quite smoothly. I can pack my bowls a bit tighter with this one since it's so light.
**High:** This one hit me in all the right spots. Not too powerful, it's a nice creeper buzz that makes me relaxed but attentive. I enjoy it for afternoon use, I can get things done in a chill mood. Didn't expect to pick this one up but I'm glad I did!

What a treat. An absolutely beautiful smoke! Skoocum has never disappointed. The product consultations with the CS staff always prove fortuitous. I would have never chosen this obscure strain had it not been highly recommended. Pity that they’d sold out of ounces before payday.
**Bag appeal was off the charts**: That is a 10 gram cola in the photos my fellow bud lovers, and I only ordered 14g.Kinda had the same effect as a hundred dollar bill: lasted longer because I didn’t want to break it. Dense, perfectly trimmed, nice blending of hues of green accented with purple, vibrant orange hairs well represented, and frosty with trichomes.
**Nose and Flavour:** Very verbose and super enticing. The smell exploded even further when in the grinder. Popped the bag and instantly enveloped in an overtly sweet berry funk with hints of earth, spice and even a tad of fuel. Flavour was similar to nose and tasty AF. A “creaminess” was obvious and noted while smoking. Not sure if that makes sense, or if I’m capturing the real essence, but it was novel and noice.
**Smoke:** I roll dubes. This was incredibly smooth and clean. Very pronounced resin ring. Like I said, “a real treat”.
**Effects:** This was a great daytime, anytime flower. Energizing, uplifting, happy and euphoric. Smoking this promoted a good mood and overall happiness.

Will try it tomorrow! Friend told me it’s was a good sativa strain for the day. The smell is nice. More on the sunset side with a subtil touch of mandarin.

I liked the Mandarin cookies qhite a bit so I was just curious to see if this one would be similar.
Visually it's a perfect trim and the trichromes are crazy on this thing.
I understood at the scent that it indeed similar to the Mandarin cookies. Sugary caramel.
I tried it with my solo 2 and I recognized all the character of the Mandarin cookies. It's not the same strain but it's a similar taste. Very creamy and candy. I'm in love.

Ultra Pink; Skookum/ Budmail; September 2020

I missed out the last time this was on offer, so when it popped back up I grabbed this and the Sophie’s Breath.
Well, it’s not as visually appealing as other strains Skookum offers - Ultra Pink is a heavy hitter for sure.
Buds remind me of back in the days weed where you’d buy a bag from someone and get home and be disappointed in the look of it and then you’d smoke one and be absolutely floored.
The trim on this stuff is unimpressive and the visual suffers for it. However, taste/smell and high are absolute aces.
Super sticky, breaks up easily and rolls into a very nice joint. Taste is what you’d expect from a Pink Kush cross. Old school Kush and an earthy flavour. Burns white and slow.
The high is a classic heavy indica experience. Couch lock, lazy and hungry haha. This is a great example of a night time strain. This is the stuff I smoke an hour or so before bed if I want to get a decent sleep without the usual night terrors and restless nights I usually struggle with. A real knockout.

Sophie’s Breath; Skookum/Budmail; September 2020

When I saw that Skookum had some Sophie’s Breath on offer I ended up breaking my promise to stop spending money on weed and copped a couple/few tins of a couple/few strains including this.
My first Sophie’s Breath experience was from Rainzforest a year or so ago and it was really nice so I was excited to see what Skookum could do with it.
Buds are beautiful, hues of purple, green and orange, coated in trichomes and sticky. A really nice cure as well, sticky to the touch but breaks off the stem.
Nose is sweet and has some very strong berry notes. Taste translates with an earthy and blueberry exhale. The ash burned salt and pepper for me with a couple of joints. That’s a first from Skookum for me. Was still a smooth smoke, just an observation.
High is a nice hybrid, I feel like I can get shit done but if I were to sit down and start gaming - I’d be just as happy. You really can get lost in your thoughts with this high. Munchies is meh, pretty easy to forget that you haven’t eaten in a bit with this stuff when you’re focused on a task.
Overall, this is a great example of a hybrid that I would gladly partake in as a daily driver. Astro Boy still tops the scales for me as far as a functional smoke but this is a close second.

Honey Pot Kush- Budmail- September

So I took a two month hiatus from Budmail, kinda like what the Aussies would call a bit of a “walk about”, after having ordered almost exclusively from them for a year. I went forth and sought, for the most part, value alternatives, but I did try one similar to BM and rekindled a relationship with a previous favourite. It was a gratifying trip where I interacted with some great redditors, had some fun communications with a few moms, and arrived at a moment of clarity.
There are value deals out there. I had an O all in for $104! The issue is finding consistency. In each scenario when I ordered a mix and match or simply multiple strains from the lower tiers there was always a gem in the rough, something smokable, and inevitably something lack luster. So it averages out to smokable, and that leads to higher consumption: bigger dubes and increased frequency.
The end of my journey is a return to the familiar with no further great concern that I’m missing out. My great granny always said, “you get what you pay for”. For me, in the long run, I’m buying into paying for the top drawer, and trying to roll back on frequency in favour of quality experiences. I will likely still be occasionally tempted by a value offer, but now wonder if the next journey is exploring the best strains each of the upper tier growers offer.
Onto the strain at hand:
CS tipped me off that something good was up with this and I owe a shout out. Every now and then you get something really special; this was one of those times.
Nicely trimmed, with a few sugar leaves for show. Nice thumb sized buds, only took three of them to make the quarter (I have big hands). Heavy with resin I had to physically separate the buds when I removed them from the bag.
The nose is wonderful. It entices with overtones of earth, musk, cedar, a honey like sweetness and a hint of fuel.
A dube produces a very nice resin ring and a smooth burn. My first impression was “rich”. HPK is very full flavoured.
Effects were outstanding: Insta-permagrin, a tad of giddiness, and definitely euphoric out of the gate. Then, like getting under a warm blanket, a deep sense of calm and relaxation wash over the body. Great legs too.
Overall, I rate this as exceptional, and I got what I paid for.
Transparency disclosure: I receive points for reviews.

What can I say that hasn’t been already said about this strain? Probably the biggest crowd favourite strain from Skookum.
Super sticky buds with an earthy, gassy and almost minty nose. Taste translates to smell damn near perfectly.
Ash is white and joints have a nice resin ring.
High is very potent, this is a great end of the day/ night time strain and I find myself getting deeper sleeps any night I partake in this particular strain. Munchies are strong with this stuff but if you can weather the initial storm - they tend to trail off within about 30-45 minutes. The high, however, doesn’t drop away quickly but when it does you’re left ready for bed.
Super impressed, would/will buy again.

Chocolate Samurai; Budmail/ Skookum/ September 2020

This is a staple of the Skookum series and one I hadn’t tried yet. It’s got an interesting lineage of Jack x Chocolope x Shiatsu Kush and Nebula. As a fan of the flavour profile of Chocolope and the high of Jack I figured this stuff would be a hit for me. Not so much.
It looks great, fluffy and sticky. Bud structure reminds me of Jack but it’s a deeper green. The can was stuffed full but that’s where the praise ends for me.
Taste and smell is incredibly tame. Smells faintly of chocolate and berries but it’s more bordering on older dried weed. You know the stuff - almost smells like old musty tea leaves. The taste is basically nonexistent for me. I smoked 3 or 4 of these over a few days before writing this review because I was so surprised that this was not a winner.
The burn is clean. White ash and no harshness in the exhale. No real resin ring to speak of.
The high is middling at best for me. Not a high energy Jack stone (which is why I’m a fan of the strain in the first place). It’s more just middle of the road. Average is what consistently comes to mind. No real munchies with this stuff.
I wish I could score this higher as I was really looking forward to this strain but unfortunately it’s just not a hit for me.

Honey Pot Kush - Budmail - Sept 2020 (Preview)

Listed as '*Honey Pot*' x *Kish* (*Shishkaberry*), this **Honey Pot Kush** came highly recommended from Berm and I've enjoyed getting to know this since I wasn't able to find more about its specific lineage
This indica-dominant or indica-leaning hybrid arrived as large, chunky, sticky nugs with ample protective trim and great humidity, aromas of sweet earth and rich, gassy kush. Breaking up the bud releases a grainy, woody 'fresh' sweetness that reminds me of Crunch Berries mixed with something like Pink Kush or even MK Ultra
Robust flavours of sweet, dank/woody kush with lots of rich, musky diesel and hits like an enjoyable punch to the face that settles as euphoric relaxation. Flavour-wise I described it initially as a sweeter, woodier and more fragrant version of Pine Tar Kush
Ultimately in a blind nose/taste test, I'd prob guess this cultivar was a cross of Tom Ford Pink Kush x Crunch Berries, and it's something that kushy gas-lovers will really like. (Though its been a while since I've had Shishkaberry, didn't detect much of its influence in this cultivar's nose, with just a splash of berry sweetness during the experience)
